Permit fees and worked estimates

Council minutes record approval of Resolution 1707-12-24, effective January 1, 2025. The attached fee exhibit provides an adopted dated benchmark. The City currently offers a final 2025 PDF, but its body was inaccessible; unchanged October 2026 rates are not certified.

Assume qualifying residential electrical service replacement and a separate AC appliance replacement: $75 + $75 = $150 trade-permit benchmark. Excludes other work, applicable review, building, utility, fire and inspection charges; confirm the current City assessment.

Codes and amendments

Submission checklist

Confirm City jurisdiction and applicable development approvals.
Provide construction documents and qualified applicant information.
Identify each separate trade and related utility scope.
Keep approved drawings on site and display the issued permit notice.

Homeowner rules

City instructions allow trade permits for valid Iowa contractors or qualifying homeowners with a homestead exemption. Electrical owner eligibility specifically concerns a single-family homestead. Confirm the exact eligibility and permitted scope before applying.

Inspections and closeout

The City requires each construction phase to pass inspection before the next phase proceeds. Schedule through CSS, retain the approved job copy and resolve corrections before required final/occupancy approvals.
