Overview

Knoxville’s current permit introduction describes a parent project that connects plans review and inspections. Confirm City rather than Knox County jurisdiction and align the project’s scope with intended occupancy.

Permit fees and worked estimates

The City policies page links a schedule labeled 2024. No newer effective date is asserted here; verify actual assessment.

Assume a $20,000 stand-alone electrical scope under that table: $20,000 × 0.005 = $100, above the $55 minimum. Excludes other permits, card-processing charges, special inspections and revisions.

Codes and amendments

Use City policy/fast-fact guidance for adopted-code interpretations; confirm edition and local amendments for the actual application rather than inferring them from the fee schedule year.

Submission checklist

Define the complete project and intended occupancy.
Prepare project plans and each trade scope.
Confirm permit-holder credentials.
Coordinate fire-system acceptance and final approvals.

Homeowner rules

Ask the City whether the permit holder qualifies under an owner procedure, license or registration category. A state-license exception does not itself waive City permit-holder requirements.

Inspections and closeout

Schedule inspections against the approved project/trade records, arrange required fire-system testing and complete final approvals for the intended occupancy.
