Overview

Construction Review provides building, electrical, HVAC and fire permit services through its online portal. Confirm Metro jurisdiction and external reviews; plumbing is a separate Kentucky Division of Plumbing route. The City permit page directs homeowner applicants to the office rather than promising online homeowner issuance.

Permit fees and worked estimates

The current City fee page was reviewed on October 12, 2026; it does not state a single new commencement date for every listed rate.

Eligible $20,000 partial alteration: $50 + 20 × $2.50 = $100 building component. Add one qualifying one/two-family electrical repair over $750 at $100 and one dwelling HVAC system at $105: selected total $305. Excludes state plumbing, fire, zoning/site, credential fees, special work, additional inspections and other assessments. Confirm that the partial-building and dwelling trade categories apply.

Submission checklist

Define occupancy, affected floor area or partial-alteration cost.
Provide required drawings and sealed site survey for new/addition work where requested.
Verify Metro contractor status and required state credentials.
Identify external agency, state plumbing and fire approvals before construction.

Homeowner and licensing

Metro identifies or licenses contractors and asks for insurance/affidavit and Revenue Commission information. Licenses are not transferable; ownership/business changes require updates. Property-owner permit eligibility does not establish every trade exception; confirm self-work eligibility and state plumbing requirements before starting.

Codes and amendments

Use the applicable Kentucky building, residential, mechanical and fire framework together with Metro zoning and administrative requirements. The City’s code resources and relevant state authority establish filing-date applicability and review jurisdiction; one building approval does not replace separate regulated-trade requirements.

Inspections and closeout

The permit holder requests inspections through the applicable service. Included counts vary by discipline; the current page prices additional inspections at $50 each and requires payment before scheduling. Complete building and trade finals and the project’s required occupancy/acceptance approval; a paid fee is not closeout.
